IIoT Educational Day

Educational Day

The world of the Internet of Things can be convoluted and complex. Our aim for the day is to help simplify the journey of an IIoT solution. From collecting raw data, to the transmitting of that data and finally what we do with that data and how it can be integrated with your existing IT systems. Also our partners Sato, Global Sign and NordicID will also be present at the educational day.

9:00am IIoT Overview

What is IIoT and what are the key benefits for manufacturing companies. We explain why you should be taking the Internet of Things seriously. The industrial of the Internet of Things can be convoluted and complex. Our aim for the day is to help simplify the journey of an IIoT solution. From collecting raw data, to the transmitting of that data and finally what we do with that data and how it can be integrated with your existing IT systems.

9:15am Sensors

Using sensors we are now able to connect physical objects with IT systems or other objects. Data can be collected from sensors and transmitted to any IT system. Or the sensor itself can initiate a request for action. In this session we hope to navigate you through the different types of sensors and their core benefits.

10:00am Smart/RFID Labels

Tracking, tracing, collating is now simplified using “smart” labels. Labels can be attached to materials, machines, people or products with the ability to both read and write data to the label. Many processes can be automated and data collected. Join us as we explain the many benefits of using “smart” labels.

11:15am Data Collection

This session centres on the ways we can collect data from sensors or labels. We look at using RFID readers, smartphones or controllers combined with “Edge Computing” an industry term for local intelligence that can optimise data or carry out local processing. This session will also include a demonstration of an automated inventory system.

11:45am Connectivity

There are many different and confusing methods of transmitting data, there is the more generic IP, Wi-Fi, Cellular, Bluetooth and NFC etc... As well as many branded options such as ZigBee and LoRa. In this session we hope to help you make some sense of these different delivery methods and the pros and cons for using each one.

1:30pm The Cloud

How do we utilize the “Cloud” for our data and applications? We will be explaining the “Cloud” and showing examples of where the “Cloud” can improve and connect IT systems.

2:00pm Integration and Interoperability

The data collected could be just being reported on or stored, or it may well be directly calling processes within your existing systems such as an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning). In any case you will probably require some sort of integration and having to deal with the issues around inoperability. This session is designed to look into the issues around this and the possible solutions.

3:00pm Security/Standards and Platforms

Security is a major concern whenever data is involved and within an IIoT solution even more so. We look to explain the issues around security and the measures that can be implemented. We will also be looking at the issues around standards, especially given the vast number of different options and the IIoT’s infancy. Finally we will explain the use of platforms and their benefits.

3:45pm Where is the Value (R.O.I.)

In the final session we will focus on the presentation of our data. The opportunities, whether they are cost saving, competitive advantages, process improvements or increased revenue. We will look at disruptive new business models and applications. Finally summarising the day’s events.

4:15pm Questions and Answers with the Presenters

his is the perfect opportunity to talk with our presenters, ask any burning questions on a one-to-one basis and get to know how IIoT can help your business.
